BRRRRrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Our next big event is tomorrow! It's our big home-study and interview process. The room painting is done! The bed is ready to go. Are we 100% ready, heck no! We won't be until we get that life changing call. All of our technical stuff is done though, medicine locked up, bed ready and waiting, water heater turned down. Make that waaaaaay down! I am personally hoping that the water heater has been turned down too far, because I am not a fan of cold to lukewarm showers. What's the point of that? It is FREEZING!

Showering with the water this way reminds me of a trip I took to the Dominican Republic where the water for the shower sat in huge barrels on top of the roof. The only way it was warmed was through the sun. As hot as the Dominican was, it wasn't hot enough to raise that water temperature by much. At least not with everyone using the showers everyday. The benefit of being in the Dominican though was that you were so hot and nasty that you CRAVED the cold water. And though it might have been cold when it poured on your head, your body was so hot that the water was warm by the time it reached your toes! However, I would much rather be living in the United States with my lukewarm shower than in the Dominican where it was hot hot hot!

I laugh because I am certain that most people with biological children don't have their water heater down this low! However there are many things that "normal" people don't have to do to have a children that we are required by the state to do. I am all for a smaller government with less control, however sometimes I wonder if we should stop regulating things like light bulbs and start regulating things like a three strikes you're out rule! Especially for parents who seem to endanger their children over, and over, and over again.

I read an article the other day that said that one state was going to BAN the sale of two liter soda bottles with a certain companies pizza, because it would be too many calories in one setting. REALLY?! But yet it's ok for sexual abusers to get their kids back... And they wonder why people are so jaded and against our government. That is a topic for another day.

Hopefully our home study goes well and all of our requirements pass the checklist. After that we don't have anything major left to do. It's a little overwhelming to think that we are already this far into the process. Seems like we just started and now they are going to let us parent someone's kid! Talk about scary! Maybe that's the reason for all of these hoops to jump through. I just hope my freezing showers do some good for someone because for right now, I'm still shivering!
