Adoption Timeline

10-2012--Approached to adopt a child, fell through, but started us working with a social   
                 worker
1-2-2013--Breakfast with a friend that opened up our eyes to a whole new option of  
                   adoption
1-3-2013--Contacted the Center for Youth and Family Solutions to start our adoption
                   process and simply gain more info.
1-7-2013--Started back to school after Christmas break, get a phone call that they have an
                  opening in the winter PRIDE class
1-8-2013--Started the PRIDE classes
2-29-2013-- First home visit
4-30-2013--Last PRIDE class
5-18-2013--State Foster Care license came through 
5-18-2013--Baby Boy Born
5-21-2013--Call to come and get Baby Boy
5-23-2013--Shelter Care hearing and first visit
6-20-2013--Legal Screen One, postponed until more research can be done. 
9-2013-- Biological father determined
10-2013--More visits added to the schedule, biological father visits every other week, drives clear to the Iowa border
1-2014--Appointed new supervisor
3-2014--Supervisor takes over case because of regular social worker leaving
4-2014--New social worker appointed
11-2014--Permanency hearing-- bio father missing, wanted to give up rights, but disappeared before he could sign the paper work
11-2014-- "Miss Thang" joins our family
2-2015--Legal screen passed with enough information to terminate mother's rights.
4-2015--Hired personal lawyer
5-2015--Permanency hearing; continuance
8-2015--Permanency hearing; return home determined
10-2015--Returned our son to his birthmother, hardest day of our lives
8-2016--Judge determines that "Miss Thang" needs to be in a forever family with her sister
9-2016-- We meet the people who will become the forever parents for our sweet little "Miss Thang," They are perfect! 
10-2016--"Miss Thang" gets placed with her forever family! 😍
Spring-2017--Contact Lifetime adoption agency about pursuing private domestic adoption
6-2017--First payment made to lifetime
10-2017--Final payment made to Lifetime, visit "Miss Thang" for her Birthday! 
12-2017--Interstate adoption home-study completed
1-2018--Went "live" with Lifetime Adoption Agency
8-2018--"Miss Thang offically gets a new last name! 💓💓💓💓💓
8-2018--Video completed and accepted by Lifetime
9-2018--Featured video on Lifetime's facebook page

The Childless Mother

I wrote this poem for not only myself, but for all of the sweet mamas out there that have experienced the loss of a child. It seems that after the dust settles and life "moves on" the childless mother is often forgotten about. Talk about it

One of the things I love to do is educate people, probably a good thing since I'm a teacher. ;) However, educating people about adoption and foster care is a big passion of mine. This last week we had the privilege of going out to dinner with a couple who is in the beginning stages of considering adoption from Foster Care. At one point in the conversation Tony said to me, "I'll talk for awhile, you eat." Well, that didn't last long because I had so much I wanted to say. You see all of this experience in foster care and the world of adoption leaves me with so much to share. I could literally talk for hours and hours about our experiences and the knowledge we posses. What are we doing now?

Many of you have asked what we are doing now that we are officially contracted, I thought it would be easiest to make a list! 😘😊☺️ Things we are doing while waiting to bring home Charlie Brown:  Loan paperwork for the reaming fee  ($10,000)  Working on an AWESOME adoption t-shirt  Profile for birth moms to see Writing birth mom letters Submitting paperwork for profiles Getting paperwork rejected (completely normal and expected, the profile is a long process, but it has to be perfect!) Redoing profile paper work so it's perfect Buying cloth diapers Adding odds and end baby things to our collection  Attending online adoption trainings Communicating with our personal worker at the agency Updating home study paper work Updating medical records  Emails, emails, emails  Waiting... we can't be officially matched until the remainder of our fee is paid, we are working on adoption loans, fundraising, and saving money.  ...
